Hello, my name is Edward Raff. I'm the Director of Emerging AI at Booz Allen Hamilton, where I lead our machine learning research group and high-end applied ML work. As a Visiting Professor at UMBC, I work closely with the DREAM and IRAL labs. I'm a Senior Member of The Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence and of the IEEE. I received MBA from the Whitman School of Managment and my PhD in Computer Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (2018), and was supervised by Professor Charles Nicholas. I graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor (2012) and Master (2013) degree in Computer Science. Please see my LinkedIn page for more information on my work history.
I'm generally interested in all areas of Computer Science. I have a particular passion for machine learning, and I am the author of the JSAT library in my (limited) spare time. I like applying machine learning to interest problems, including reproducibility, malware, healthcare, security/privacy, fairness, and biometrics. I also have interests and experience in high-performance computing and algorithm development. Basically, any interesting and challenging problem will grab my attention.
On this site, I host my research papers and some of my older projects, and I hope that you will find something of interest. I don't tend to keep this website up-to-date, but I will keep the publications current. The title "RaffWorks" comes from several years of software services/code writing that I've helped people with.
